TERMINOLOGY

Architectural movies

-          Video type:

o   Video file  – we will send the video file in the requested format.

o    Image sequence – we will send the video in files for every generated frame. For example, a 24 FPS video frame has 24 images or frames for one second. The images that make the video are easier to edit at a later stage in video editing programs.

-          Video frame rate:

A frame rate refers to the number of individual frames or images that are displayed per second of film. If you would like to chose the frame rate of your video,  we recommend you strongly to discuss about this in advance. It’s important for us to understand how you want to use the animation and effects that comes with it.

-          Select video resolution:

A wide selection of video resolutions. Higher resolution imply some important factors. We switch from standard rendering software to game engines to reduce rendering time without losing quality and details. Movies with resolutions above Quad HD (2560 x 1440) and longer than 5 minutes with a higher frame rate will be created in game engines.

-          Approximate movie length:

Depending of the complexity and the length of the movie, we will make the price offer.

-          What time of day do you want your movie?

The time of day will influence your movie. Sun position, sun intensity, shadows and environment lighting will add a warm, cold or neutral tint to your movie.

o   Morning – sunshine at 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM (including sunrise golden hour if requested) – warm colours, soft shadows.

o   Midday – 12:00 PM to 18:00 PM – cold colours, hard shadows.

o   Evening – 19:00 PM to sunset (including sunset golden hour if requested) – neutral colors, soft stars and moon (if necessary) in sight, project lights will be on and visible (outside/inside, street, etc). We will need project lighting details for this kind of image.

o   Night – 22:00 PM to 5:00 AM – moon and stars in the sky, streetlights, cars lights, etc. We will need project lighting details for this kind of image.

o   Time transition – we will try to cover the 24h time transition and the movie will include all the effects above. The movie will need to have a minimum duration this being decided in the preliminary meeting. This option adds extra costs , due to the different lighting conditions we need to setup for the animation. The result will be the most immersive experience that you can obtain from an architectural movie.

-          In what season do you want your movie?

The season will influence the atmosphere from your movie.

o   Spring - is synonymous with rebirth. Nature, flowers and plants, color and streams – they all come alive. The vegetation grows green and lush. This gives your composition almost an enchanted effect, fairy tale.

o   Summer – the days are longer and the sunrise and sunsets full of colors and excitement. In a summer movie you will find harsh light, foggy weather, high contrast and black shadows. Buildings, bridges and other architectural structures look stunning on a clear summer’s day against deep blue sky. Gardens tend to be at their most photogenic during summer, with plants and shrubs creating a riot of color in even the modest suburban plot.

o   Autumn – comes with warm and vivid colors that make all kinds of movies stand out. There are fewer hours of harsh midday sunlight. The colors change a lot, they go from almost all greens to beautiful warm reds, orange and yellows.

Winter -   the days may be short, but the sun’s low aspect means beautiful light all day long. This also provides a better opportunity for sun to beam through windows for most of the day and penetrate deeper into rooms. Long night during the cold winter months provides a greater chance of fog or mist at dawn. Trees lose their majesty in winter, but bare branches mean better visibility of buildings.

o   Season transition – we will try to cover all the seasons above and the movie will include all the effects described. The movie will need to have a minimum duration and will be decided in the preliminary meetings. Despite that this option will greatly increase the price, due to different atmospheric conditions we need to setup for the animation, it will be the most emotional experience that you can obtain from an architectural movie.

-          Weather condition for your movie:

The weather will add the most realism and intensity experience to your movie. There are six main components of weather that we will take into consideration when compositing your image. They are temperature, haze, wind, humidity, precipitation and cloudiness.

o   Sunny – or clear, means there are partially or no clouds in the sky.

o   Cloudy – the entire sky is covered by clouds.

o   Before rain – dark clouds at horizon, colours tend to be more desaturated.

o   Rainy – sky with dark clouds, wet materials and water puddles on the ground. Movie is covered with a layer of rain (optional).

o   After rain – sky starts to transform in soft clouds and the sun starts to show between. You will be able to clearly see the rain effects on the streets, cars and buildings – water splashes, puddles and muddy ground. Maybe a rainbow will appear somewhere in the horizon!

o   Snow - in black and white the image will look gorgeous. The image is covered with a layer of snowflakes (optional), and the soft snow is covering all the ground. You will be able to see car paths and footprints. The trees will also be covered with snow.

o   Weather transition – we will try to cover all the effect above in your movie. The movie will need to have a minimum duration and will be decided in the preliminary meetings. Despite that this option will greatly increase the price, due to different weather conditions we need to setup for the animation, it will be the most thrilling experience that you can obtain from an architectural movie.

-          Do you want your project to be inserted into a real movie/drone movie/google maps tour?

By choosing “Yes” or deciding at a later stage in the project to this option, you agree to provide any of the information below:

o   A real movie (or more) from the location of the project. The real movie must cover all area of the location. In the animation we will respect the resolution, FPS, lighting and weather of the movie, so all the options above will be disabled. We will use this movie to insert the project and all its details.

o   A drone movie (or more) of the location. Drone movies represent an aerial view of the location of the project (including neighborhood and adjacent street, buildings, etc). In the animation we will respect the resolution, FPS, lighting and weather of the movie, so all the options above will be disabled. We will use this movie to insert the project and all its details.

o   A google earth tour video file that includes the location of the project. Please keep in mind that some google earth views are out of date and not accurate.

Due to the fact that some google maps views are out of date and not accurate we consider that is better to discuss in advance so we can decide what option view is the best (picture/drone image/google maps)

Our company can provide for an extra cost:

o   Location high resolution videos, ready to be used for project insertion.

o   Drone survey services for project location, ready to be used for project insertion.

-          Do you already know the points of interest for your project in the movie?

If you already know the points of interest that you want to be visible in your animation, please send them together with the information. You can mark them in the architectural plan or make a simple sketch for us to understand where the cameras position will be.

-          Would you like us to edit the movie with special details like: Logo, Contact details, etc?

We will edit the animation at its best if you would like to insert your company logo, contact details or any other special detail you might consider in your movie. We will discuss when, how and at what time those details will appear in the movie. Please send us all the details with the information.

-          Do you want the 3D files to be included in the final package?

By choosing “Yes” to this option, we will provide you the 3D model of the project, textures and animated cameras, without furniture, plants, trees, cars, people, environment and any other 3D model from the scene not related to the project. We can send to you the file in any standard format used in 3D applications. For animations created in game engines, the file format will be the native format of the engine used for the project.  This option will be charged with extra costs. If  you need the 3D model at a later date, please send us a request since every project we work on is kept in our database.

-          What information will you provide us?
